The skin is affected on the superficial level when lotion is applied during massage.Certain essential oil, vitamins, fat-soluble hormones and fatty substances such as creams and oils, can be absorbed through the pores and hair follicles.  A safe massage with superior ingredients gives much needed moisture back to the skin during treatment. It is always important to consult with your physician for the most appropriate role for massage in the treatment process. The side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatment that cause the skin to become dehydrated and irritated are not considered life threatening.  However, it is very important for a patient to have the information concerning safe skincare so that they look and feel their best during treatment.  Always make sure that you use the highest quality products that nourish, rehydrate and moisturize the skin during treatment for cancer.
